Yesterday I finally remembered to look for some of the decorated eggs I have been craving since I first saw them last spring. As it was the day before Easter and we won’t be here for Easter next year, this was zero hour. We managed to find them at Tucano, a cute textile and home goods store. I’m sure there are many different kinds out there – these are made of wood and are a couple of inches long, and they all have elaborate and varied decorations that aren’t meant to match one another. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
I’ve also seen a lot of hand-decorated empty eggshells for sale at farmer’s markets, but those would not survive their eventual plane ride back to the U.S. Or the short walk back to the apartment, for that matter.
