Botanischer Garten

It’s finally warm enough to go check out the Botanical Garden, about three minutes from my apartment. It’s free, and located on one side of the palace.

Incidentally, though I didn’t see any frogs or toads while I was there, the sign reminds me that Germany has a toad migration volunteer system. New roads may need to include plans for toad tunnels if they pass through an existing toad migration area. On older roads lacking toad tunnels, volunteers empty buckets full of toads and other amphibians, captured on one side of the road, onto the other side, far from the threat of traffic. Insert your own corny “animal crossing the road” joke here.

  1. Here in north Jersey we have salamander volunteers. Helps them safely across. Hope all is well. All is well here. Love. Brenda and grandpa

    • True, but I’m sort of afraid that “seeing” would mean “stepping on them.” Better off that we didn’t run into each other.
